Duties:

1. Develop complex data pipelines and implement data engineering design principles for iterative data pipeline development to drive scale and efficiency. Enable model deployment through utilizing model development environments and coding best practices.

2. Integrate and optimize existing data and model pipelines in a production environment. Identify and diagnose data inconsistencies and errors, documents assumptions, and forages to fill data gaps. Apply knowledge of experimental methodologies, statistics, optimization, probability theory, and machine learning concepts to create self-running artificial intelligence (AI) systems to automate predictive models.

3. Partner with data science teams to review model ready dataset document/feature documentation. Develop data model design and document. Review for completeness with data science teams.

4. Partner with data science teams to understand data requirements and perform data discovery for model development. Perform detailed analysis of raw data sources for data quality. Apply business context and model development needs. Drive efficiency using data discovery tools.

5. Engage with business stakeholders to identify AI/ML opportunities that deliver faster, more efficient decisions and measurable value. Engage with internal teams to understand business processes, develop hypotheses, structure requests, and translate requirements into actionable analytic approaches, while influencing planning and prioritization to align initiatives with strategic goals.

6. Write model monitoring scripts as needed. Diagnose root causes based on model monitoring alerts and triage issues. Coordinate and plan response to model monitoring alerts and resolve issues.

7. Serve as a machine learning engineering subject matter expert on cross functional teams for large strategic initiatives and contribute to the growth of the Vanguard analytic community.

8. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

9. May telecommute in line with company policy (hybrid role).

Requirements: Must have a Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field and five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a Machine Learning Engineer, Specialist-related occupation.
