Duties:

1. Write ETL (Extract / Transform / Load) processes, designs database systems and develop tools for real-time and offline analytic processing.

2. Troubleshoot software and processes for data consistency and integrity. Integrate complex and large-scale data from a variety of sources for business partners to generate insight and make decisions.

3. Translate business specifications into design specifications and code. Write complex programs, ad hoc queries, and reports. Ensure that all code is well structured, include sufficient documentation, and is easy to maintain and reuse.

4. Partner with internal clients to gain an expert understanding of business functions and informational needs. Work closely with other technical and data analytics experts across the business to implement data solutions.

5. Lead all phases of solution development. Explain technical considerations at related meetings, including those with internal clients and less experienced team members.

6. Assess data quality and test code thoroughly for accuracy of intended purpose. Provide data analysis guidance and serve as a technical consultant for the client.

7. Educate and develop junior data engineers on the team while applying quality control to their work. Develop data engineering standards and contribute expertise to other data expert teams across Vanguard.

8. Test and implement new software releases through regression testing. Identify issues and engage with vendors to resolve and elevate software into production.

9. Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

10. May telecommute in line with company policy (hybrid role).

Requirements: Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field and five (5) years of experience job offered or in a Data Engineer, Specialist-related occupation. Alternatively, employer will accept a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related field and three (3) years of experience job offered or in a Data Engineer, Specialist-related occupation.
